Hands-on harvest

Are you itching to get your hands on some pinot noir grapes?

Meadowcroft Wines will welcome the public to a hands-on harvest experience from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 at their Cornerstone Vineyard.

The experience picking for the 2018 Cornerstone Vineyard Pinot Noir will be led by Tom Meadowcroft, owner and winegrower.

Bourbon Street Bash

The Petaluma Educational Foundation will transport guests to the Big Easy during the Bourbon Street Bash at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Petaluma Veteran’s Memorial Building.

The evening includes cocktails and appetizers, dinner, a live auction and dancing at 9:30 p.m. to Pride and Joy.

Olive oil tasting

McEvoy Ranch Chef and Educator Jacquelyn Buchanan will give an olive oil and food demonstration plus wine tasting with bites from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Sunset Outdoor Test Kitchen at Cornerstone.

The menu for the day includes a seasonal appetizer, Vegetable Slaw with McEvoy Jalapeno Olive Oil, Lamb Meatballs with Salsa Verde and Lemon Biscotti.

Winesong charity

Winesong, Mendocino’s premier charity auction and wine and food tasting, will take place on Sept. 7 and 8 along the Mendocino Coast.

The weekend kicks off from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 with a Pinot Noir Celebration and tasting at the Little River Inn. Tickets are $125 to $250.

The Wine and Food tasting takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the lush Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens.

Admission is $150, including festival seating around the auction tent.

The live auction runs from 2 to 5 p.m. in the auction tent at the gardens. Tickets to both the tasting and auction are $250.

Culinary safari

Nomad Chic, a boutique featuring a collection of global apparel, jewelry, furniture and accessories, will host a South African Culinary Safari dinner at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Cornerstone Sonoma.

Prepared by Chef Elizabeth Binder, the evening includes a welcome beverage, a multi-course dinner and BYO wine. Cost is $125. To reserve:

Get ready for cold and flu season with some healthy, hands-on cooking classes coming up at Wind & Rye Kitchen.

Boost your family’s immunity with a class on Home Remedies at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 or at 1 p.m. Sept. 16. Cost is $120 for each class and includes take-home elixirs, drinks and dinner.

Learn how to preserve the flavors of fall at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 with Fall Harvest Ferments and Pickles. Cost is $120 and includes take-home pickles, drinks and dinners

Finally, master the art of making your own Elevated Stocks and Bone Broths at 6 p.m. Oct. 4. Cost is $120 before Sept. 21 and includes take-home broths, drinks and dinner.
